My Creative Overload

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog!
Today, I am a day late, and that is with the honest reason of: I didn't know what to write about. Truthfully, I've been quite busy lately trying to build upon my creative projects and find my way in staying engaged with all of them. Somehow I felt no inspiration yesterday for a blog to write, and after having shoved it back a day, I still had little creative juice flowing to come up with a solid idea. And then it hit me, what if I just write about exactly that?
Last week I mentioned in my blogpost how I started writing a novel, and though the progress on that one is quite slow, it's still an idea I intend on working on. However, in the last few days I decided to have a look at my future and what next year will bring for me. Eventually, I landed on wanting to create a videogame. A project that will keep my motivation and practice up while I also (hopefully) end up with something valuable to show for.
Long story short, I have got a lot of things running at the moment. Additionally, life ever stays busy, and I think that the very fact of having these creative projects is also something that just naturally drains my creative energy. In between balancing my motivation and mind, I came to the conclusion that it simply takes a lot of energy.
But instead of writing nothing, I think that this subject is one that is actually quite interesting to explore. I think there's some value in discussing my current creative projects and how it influences my life. I will start by going over these projects that are still active and I am trying to continue working on. Then I will go over how I intentionally deal with these projects and how I balance letting some rest and letting others take up more of my time. All in all, a very me episode. So if you're interested in what's going on with me, here's the content:
My Creative Projects
As I mentioned in the introduction, I do have a couple of creative projects running at this time. I wanna just briefly go over what they are and what my goals are regarding these projects. So without further ado, here's my project board:
1. Boundless Sagas
You guessed it, even though it might not look like it much, this website is still very much an active project of mine. At this point, the blog is the only aspect I am actively developing and continuing to write, but I will go over this intention and status later in more detail. Worth mentioning though is that I have every intention to let my dreams and plans become reality somewhere in the future. When that will be exactly is still a surprise, for both me and you, but it's something we'll simply have to wait and see about.
2. Fragments of Fiction
Yup, even my bundle I've written about multiple times is still on this list. Unfortunately, this project is not done yet. Even though it's mainly a matter of time now, I would love to close off this project. It would bring me a lot of closure on this chapter of my life, and it will additionally be a great motivator to have this project be all done and finished. In short, I can't wait for this project to be finally done and boost me with some extra energy for my other projects.
3. The World of Gylgomorah
Onto my worldbuilding project. This one is much like the website at this point. It's a project with many unattended plans. I think this project might even be one that will stay with me for many years, but somewhere that's also the beauty of it. I don't mind this project taking a long time, and it helps me to know that there is no pressure or deadline behind it whatsoever. In the end, this project will serve as my alternating project. The one I will work on when I need time of from my other ones or I simply need a bit of a fresh perspective. It's fun to work on, so for now that's what we'll keep it as.
4. The Novel
As introduced in last week's post, this project is a bit more novel. It's one I intend to finish this year (or maybe next year), and that's it. It's a project I picked up since I found myself not writing enough in that sense.
I think the novel is kind of an ambitious project, but in a way it's also not. Writing is something I have experience with, even writing longer texts and stories, so I just hope to embrace everything I've learnt here and in my other projects and apply it to this new project to make something wonderful. In the end, this is not a project that would come first when up against my carreer or education, but it's supposed to be my main thing to stay engaged to the beautiful world of writing.
5. The Video Game
Again, this project is very new. Maybe it's even the fact that all these project are new that make it so draining to work on them. Anyway, it's an exciting project regardless. It's something I genuinely want to dedicate a lot of time to and I hope to make something beautiful out of it in the end. This project is one with a bit more of a deadline. It's one that is meant to test the waters in terms of my own experience making video games. Additionally, it serves as a resume project if I end up continuing the field of Game Development or Computer Science as a whole. This means it does need the proper attention, and since I still have the time to do so now, I will naturally prioritise this project over the rest of them.
Intentional Creativity
Just like I mentioned just now, some of my creative projects get more attention than others. And even if there would be no deadlines and no time limits for any of these projects, I think it is healthy to do this. Working as much on all your projects at the same time (I've noticed) is kind of difficult, it requires different kinds of motivation, different kinds of thinking, different kinds of creativity to flow and arise. In terms of that, a good balance is worth investing in.
Additionally, it's okay to leave projects resting for a bit, as long as you do it with intention. Unless you really don't feel like working on a project anymore, it's sometimes a good idea to let a project alone for a bit before revisiting. This opens up time and energy, and when you end up revisiting it in the end, the fresh perspective always manages to get new ideas flowing.
Now I also know it's easy to discard projects like this and never touch thme again. I do wanna close up by saying that no matter the project, it's always worth finishing something. It's worth completing something to look back on and say: "I did that, I made that". So don't give up on your projects, just be intentional about dedicating time to them is what I wanna pass on to you.
Closing Thoughts
This blog was a bit of a weird one to write and read. I felt very honest and true to myself going over these thoughts, but I also feel like there's not much inherently in what I am saying. Even though I didn't have a good blog idea, I felt like for the sake of keeping up with my rhythm, I did need to post something.
For the coming weeks, I'll try a little harder to come up with something good that's interesting enough to read. However, if you do have any suggestions of your own, I would be open to any and every recommendation and suggestion.
Without further ado, stay creative (as I'll try my best to), and I hope to see you again next week!
